Top Indian Restaurants in Montreal

When either vegetarian or non-vegetarian cuisine is cooked to perfection with a variety of spices, and your taste buds are excited with a plethora of different flavors; you can bet that you are eating Indian food cooked just right. Montreal offers a variety of Indian Restaurants, and it takes a fair bit of experience and research to find the right Indian restaurant. I have lived in Montreal for over 18 months and my love for Indian food has made me try over 15 different Indian restaurants.

Here are my top 3 picks:

Restaurant Zaika (BYOW): $ – $$

Zaika is a fairly new restaurant, which opened last year. It can be considered one of the most trendy Indian spots in Montreal, offering both traditional and novel dishes, the menu has something for everyone. The ambiance is very modern and lively. Service is fast and the staff is very friendly. MasterChef winner Dino Angelo Luciano recently collaborated with Zaika, which speaks volumes. The only downside to Zaika is the parking around the area.

Recommended Dishes: Aloo Gobi, Samosa, Mango Lassi, Mixed Dal, Butter Chicken. They also have a separate vegan menu.

Address: 420 Rue Rachel E, Montréal, QC H2J 2G7

Le Taj: $$-$$$

Le Taj

Taj is definitely one of the oldest Indian restaurants in Montreal. Food quality and ingredients are of superior standard. Although, attention to service is good, can be a bit slow sometimes. Reservation is recommended and restaurant can be pricy compared to other Indian places in Montreal.

Recommended Dishes: Shaheer Paneer (Cottage Cheese Dish), Thali (Combination of different dishes), Butter Chicken and Dal Soup.

Address: 2077 Stanley St, Montreal, QC H3A 1R7

Thali Cuisine Indienne: $

Thali made it to my top list for a couple of reasons. The food is one of the cheapest in Montreal, you get a Thali with 3 choices of dishes, rice, and a naan for just $10 (vegetarian) or $11 (Non-vegetarian). If you don’t care much about the ambiance, this restaurant is worth a try.

Recommended Dish: Veg Thali, Chole bhature.

Address: 1409 Rue Saint-Marc, Montréal, QC H3H 2G4
